Providing iPads to MPSI Champions

At The Kennedy Ladd Foundation, we understand the challenges faced by MPSI champions (patients) and their families. Our iPad Program aims to provide these courageous individuals with access to technology that serves as a lifeline during difficult times, just as it did for our own family.

Our Story:

After spending 111 days in the hospital with our beloved Kennedy, the iPad became our lifeline. Entertaining a 1-year-old within four walls for such an extended period was challenging, but the iPad transformed into a multifunctional tool. It served as a sound machine, a means for FaceTime with loved ones, a source of entertainment, education, and much more. Witnessing its impact firsthand, we knew that providing iPads to MPSI heroes would be our first mission as a foundation.

About MPSI Champions:

MPSI (Mucopolysaccharide Immunodeficiency Syndromes) is rare genetic disorder that requires immense strength and resilience to navigate. MPSI champions demonstrate remarkable courage and perseverance in the face of adversity.

Our iPad Program:

Our mission is to provide MPSI champions with iPads, transforming these devices into lifelines that offer a multitude of benefits:

• Communication: Facilitating connections with loved ones through FaceTime and other communication apps.
• Entertainment: Providing endless entertainment options to alleviate the challenges of confinement, from education, games, to videos.
• Education: Offering access to educational resources that support continuous learning and development.
• Comfort and Distraction: Serving as a calming mechanism and distraction during medical procedures and hospital stays, helping to reduce anxiety and stress.
• Sound Machine: iPads can also function as sound machines, playing soothing sounds or music to create a peaceful environment conducive to rest and relaxation, especially during hospital stays where sleep may be disrupted.
